Chapulines
Overview & Purpose:
Students will be able to identify and explain the role of chapulines from a scientific, mathematical, artistic and culturally historic viewpoint.
Objective:
Students will be able to explain the nutritional value of the chapulin, in addition to its cultural significance, calculate the force of a grasshopper’s jump and be able to cook a grasshopper.

container to collect the grasshoppers

Instruction:
●Identify the nutritional value of the chapulines to the diets of the people of Central Mexico. For example, is there protein in a chapulin? If so, how much? What percent of a person’s recommended daily intake does it contain?
